Isn't Hwy 3 sweet? There is a gorgeous campground called Eagle Creek on the Trinity River in Trinity Center - you should check it out. It is a bummer though - all those big piles of rock in Etna and at the head of Lake Claire-Engle are tailings left over from mining operations so I would guess that Hwy 3 is home to some seriously polluted water as well as awesome views...
Agreed! I spotted several promising camp sites along the river. also spent some time by trinity lake and enjoyed it as well - rough drop to the water but still a very beautiful area.
